2013 Spring Student Organization Fair

Spring 2013 Student Organization Fair Registration Form

Fair Day!

The Spring Student Organization Fair (SOF) will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. This year, the SOF will be part of a larger, building-wide, "Fair Day" which will also include the Volunteer Fair and the Off-Campus Housing Fair.

If your student organization would like to have a table at the Student Organization Fair, please complete and submit this registration form by the Friday, January 18, 2013, at 12:00 PM (Noon) deadline. Registrations will be accepted through the deadline or until all 100 spaces are filled, whichever comes first. A waiting list will be created if necessary after all spaces are filled.

Organizations are encouraged to embrace the "Fair" theme of the day and incorporate it in the activities you do or the give-away items you may choose to hand out. As always, this event provides your organization the opportunity to inform UI students about your organization’s plans for the Spring semester as well as recruit new members but the sale of any items will not be permitted.

Each registered organization will be provided with one table and two chairs so do not have more than two people staffing your table at any given time. Tables will be assigned. Student organizations may check in at the Check-in Table in the East Lobby beginning at 10:15 AM and must have a representative at your table AT ALL TIMES for the duration of the event. Failure to have members at the table throughout the Fair, or groups that leave before 3:00pm will incur a $25 fine and may not be allowed to participate in next Fall's Welcome Back Week Student Organization Fair. Any organization that registers for the Spring 2013 Student Organization Fair, and does not show up, will incur a $50 fine and will not be allowed to participate in the Fall Student Organization Fair. If you need to cancel your registration, you may do so by contacting the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership before 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in order to avoid the $50 “no-show” penalty.

Anyway, start looking at your schedules and figuring out if/when you can spend an hour here. It's in the IMU this time, so weather won't be an issue.

I have my big-ass trophy and chalice. I've got class from 11-12:30 though so it might work best if somebody picked that up earlier in the day.

I'm also going to go ahead and nominate Janis to do the artsy crap.

I'd just like to remind everyone of the first time we had a table at the fair, which was outside at Hubbard park, and the Jung Dawg and I manned it in the sweltering heat. We had absolutely no material to show or hand out, and only had a sign because I insisted on making one. Also, Kyle sat out in the direct sun for hours without sunscreen or a hat and had a horrible, horrible allergic reaction to the sun and his head swole up massively and turned red. Does anyone else remember this? Do you fucking neophytes realize how rough we had it back then?

I will do what visualsI can come up with before that day. I'm not guaranteeing aesthetic-pleasingness on this one. School has burned the art out of me.

I can basically be there at any time, since I have that entire day free.

Let me know what time you guys can be there. Preferably, we have two people there at all times. Could I get volunteers for one-hour or ninety-minute blocks of time?

I'm pretty sure I work all day so I don't think I will be much help for this..
