I guess if you want to lift less weight you can go sans wraps.

In all honesty, I freely admit that I am doing this because it will give me an edge towards getting in the top three at 105--hell, maybe even the #1 spot. I'm going to cut weight. That's not fantastically easy, nor is it fun, as some of you may be aware. I will put on wraps, which honestly feels like complete sh*t. My goals won't be easy and will be corporeally punishing to reach. It's everyone's decision what he or she wants to do with his or her lifting, but if something is legal in a federation, then it. is. legal. End of story. That is the sport we compete in, those are the rules you're playing by, if using a belt or wrist wraps or knee wraps is cheating to you, fantastic, but none of these are cheating to your federation. I am proud of the work I've put in and will put in to get to where I'm trying to get. Wrapping or, hell, putting on gear takes forebearance, assimilation, adjustment, and it isn't always as helpful as one might think depending on one's strength curve. I feel like I'm going to have to "learn" wraps as much as I'd have to "learn" gear.

Again, I'm proud of what I've done and will do with my lifting. I want to put our team on the lifting map, and I'm going to do everything I can to do so.

Ultimately, powerlifting is a sport in which everyone gets to decide how he or she wants to compete. There's a wrapped record, and there's an unwrapped record. There's "raw," and then there's "raw with knee wraps."

What I've learned is that no matter what you do in this sport, somebody's going to have a problem with it. Some of the comments I've gotten recently involving my lifting include "squat wasn't to depth, half a bench, nice back-rounding on deadlift" and "get rid of your crutches (belt and wraps)." I've had people use my strengths against me by insinuating that I squat "too narrow" or that I'm "cheating" with a wide-grip bench press. And if there's nothing negative to say, I'll hear that I'm a "manlet" or that I'm "talented"; in other words, I was born naturally predisposed to being strong. Funny, nobody justified my progress by saying I was "talented" or "genetically gifted" a couple of years ago. What changed?

If you're honest about how you compete, I respect you and support you. You can compete raw, compete with wraps, compete single-ply, whatever; it doesn't matter to me, as long as you disclose it.

I will support people on this team regardless of how they choose to train and compete. We're on a team, and we're supposed to be supportive.

Janis, people out there are going to be hard on you. They're going to be negative, and they're going to find ways to demean what you do. But most of them aren't going to have your numbers or your accolades. In one year's time, I GUARANTEE that you will be our highest-ranked and best overall lifter. You're obviously doing something right here. You just keep doing what you think is best.

I'm going to start a federation where knee wraps are not only required, but they must be at least 4 meters long. All weights will be in stones, as well. None of this kilo garbage.

The squat will be replaced by the unrack. In this event, you unrack as much weight as you can. You may get a handoff if you desire. This event will be multiply only- you must have at least two squat suits on.

Holy. Sh*t. You will love Kyle's newest video. Youmustwatch. And Kyle's beanie will appear again. Mine does on days where I want to look like a dork. I also wore a cat shirt today--I think if you look closely you can see the ears, but it's mostly covered by my belt. HOMELESS CAT LADY LIFTING.

Just make sure you don't displace a rib. It slows the gainz. And you can't wear a homeless hat when you have a displaced rib, it causes a ripple in the time-continuum thing. So barring that, you're really good to go, just summon the power.
