And I don't think I can say too much yet, but I think I'm doing a one-day seminar in late September. It's...surprising...what doors open up through powerlifting.

Is this the rich peters seminar he talked about in the nasa facebook group?

Yeah, Rich Peters desperately wants me to help him out at his seminar. He apologized and said he never meant to say those mean things.

I'm suppose to ask if the UPA meet you just attended filled up (competitor wise).

No, but it came very close for both days (I think there were three open spots on my day).
So far, the November meet isn't close to filling. I'll start getting on people once it hits about 50%.

Paused Bench Press, medium-width bench grip Barx20 95x5 135x5 185x3 225x1 235x5 235x12 (tied PR) 235x5 (two sec. pauses) 235x5 (two sec. pauses) 235x5 (two sec. pauses) 135x20 135x20
Notes: I don't know why this is the case, but benching on a Forza bench is much easier for me. My three best bench sessions this entire training cycle have come while training away from my home gym, and this one was probably the best. 235 felt really light and 235x12 tied a PR, done with my wide grip. The reps were stricter and cleaner than that set (back in March), and my grip was in about an inch on each side. I tried to use the same width as I've been using in training at the CRWC, and to give this some context, I hit 225x9 and 230x10 in previous weeks. If I can get in occasional work on one of these benches, it will only help me for the upcoming meet. As long as I stay healthy and continue to train appropriately, I should be in good shape to break a PR come November.

It's because the padding on the Forza allows you to sink in a little bit and you can have your glutes an inch higher than you could on a hard bench

CRWC benches are also awful, so there's that. I didn't even try to arch yesterday.

Once I chalk my back and ass, I do fairly well on the CRWC benches.
I will likely send in my entry fees for the UPA meet once I can 1. double confirm that the weekend is open 2. start getting my GI Bill/Tuition Assistance money.

See, I have a bigger arch on the CRWC benches than on these low Forza benches. When I get on a low bench at a meet, I can't set up how I want, and it always feels awkward. And there is something about the pressing mechanics that feel different--my bar path just feels smoother.
Anyway, I'm not going to question it.

I think you will have plenty of time. I don't think the meet will be in danger of filling up until a month out. I know they've filled in the past, but it probably won't happen until six weeks out at the absolute earliest. I'll keep an eye on the numbers.

I felt that on the one I used for 235x12, but on the other one, it was much harder. Are they usually soft? Aren't the new competition-style ones supposed to be very hard?

I've benched on a few and from my experience they have all been pretty cushiony (especially compared to crwc)

After looking at the video, it looks like my knees are lower on the Forza bench than on the CRWC one. Not by a lot, mind you, but there is a difference. I might try benching on the CRWC benches without the plates--maybe I'll feel better without them.

If you look at the forza bench, you can see how much the bands dig into it compared to the one at the crwc

yes and the bands provide very little pressure compared to keos upper body + 225

Yeah, this one was really soft. The one Janis used was much stiffer though. I was on this one for my heavy benching:
Now, I know she weighs less than me, and the bar weight is less, but she's not sinking into this one near like I was.

I know, huh? I'm just trying to understand what it is that makes benching easier for me. Since I'm using this at meets, it's good to know the differences. Last time, I felt like I left a little on the platform with my bench.
