Back to squatty/benchy/deli, I see. What are the plans, besides staying healthy?

Yeah health is a priority. I'm going to do my best to scale back the volume and do as little as possible to make progress. I think a lot of my reoccurring injuries stem from trying to grow my work capacity rather than my strength

Interesting because I think my problem has been the exact opposite.

There are plenty of ways to overdo it. I'm susceptible to overuse injuries because I am fragile and stubborn

Good idea. And make sure you're using that time for lots of preventative work. Looks like you've already got that figured out.

Interesting because I think my problem has been the exact opposite.

I want to expand on this in case it ends up failing. I used to hold the idea that by doing a lot of volume I would fortify my body with hypertrophy and have less risk for injury due to the lower intensity. While I think this is probably true for some, I don't think I have much room for hypertrophy and I can hurt myself with 450 just as easily as 550. So when I was doing 100k+ lbs of tonnage a week I was putting on barely any muscle and training in a fatigued state for an extended period of time. In my opinion, lifting in a fatigued state with 100s of bar lifts is much riskier than a fresh set of 5 at 10-15% higher intensity.

In addition, I've realized all of my extended injuries have come during phases of high volume. All three times I've done Smolov for Squat, when I started 2015 doing 9-12 squat exercises per week etc. I've had success with very high volume getting out of the injury cycle when it came to my pec tie in, but it has proven to be a failure for my squat/deadlift injuries. Also, injuries I have had with a higher intensity have had a dramatically shorter rebound time compared to overuse injuries.

Agreed. Need a more balanced approach
