I was supposed to do my routine (SL 5x5) today but I was feeling really good so I decided to do my Bench 5 rep PR today instead of monday.

Squats 120kg 3x5 (focusing on hitting my depth)

Bench 235lbs 5-rep (PR)

OHP 60kg 3-rep (PR) 65kg 1-rep (PR) (I wanted to do 5 but I think I tired myself too much with the bench)

I will attempt squats for 5-rep PR with 130-135kg on monday and something between 145-150kg DL for a 1x5 PR.

Thanks! This is back in my undergrad (University of Puerto Rico), the olympic weightlifting team's gym. My best friend is the assistant coach (the guy spotting me) to the team so I've been able to keep training there during the break for free!

Squats 5x135kg(298lbs)

These were quite high. It was my first time wrapping my knees and they were pinching kind of hard when going down so I had to stop.

Deadlifts 5x150kg(330lbs)

I've been doing a lot of snatch and clean lately and it has help a lot with my speed pulling off the ground.

Your speed looked great on those deadlifts.

Switched to The Texas Method today

Squats
5x5 265lbs

Bench Press
1x5 210lbs
2x5 205 lbs
2x5 200lbs
I was supposed to do all five sets with the same weight but it was feeling really heavy. Kyle pointed out a few corrections that I need to do to my bench press (and deadlift) so I'll be working on that next time.

Deadlift
1x5 265lbs

(I decided to add some abs to my Mondays)
Abs
4x20

Forearms
3 exercises/2 sets/Don't remember how many reps.

I'll also be running a mile after every workout. I just like running. Is this a bad idea?

1 mile run.

Yeah that will slow your progress a little if you run after you lift. It would be better if you did cardio on a separate session if you're compelled to do steady state cardio

So Will, you'd suggest doing my runs, say, on my days off? Or running in the morning and lifting in the afternoon (or viceversa)? I was planning on only doing it MWF which are the days I lift and only for a mile. Nothing to get me too tired and at a slow pace, probably somewhere between 8-10 minute mile.

I think the main thing is just to make sure you're separating the sessions from one another so you don't muddy the training stimulus. You could probably set it up any of the ways you suggested and I doubt it would make a difference.

I know you guys didn't get to meet me as guy on the left side of the picture but yeah, I started running and working out to get in better shape two years ago and I just when I was getting stuck (last summer) I found the powerlifting club and I've seen more progress than ever. There's more to come, I'm learning a lot about this sport and I'm really enjoying it.

On the left:              250lbs
On the right (today): 170lbs
