Was taught what a competition pause was yesterday...Am now totally afraid of what a competition pause could be.

You'll be fine as long as you don't compete with a head judge who gets off on this stuff. USAPL is generally good, but a few guys take it too far. With Morrow being a big name and entering his first USAPL meet, I'm sure someone wanted to show just how "tough" the USAPL is by making an example out of him and lowering his total.

I took your advice on the weight cut--I'm going to fast only 24 hours out and cut what's left the morning of weigh-ins. I found out they run from 9-12, and the title sponsor of the meet is a gym that has a sauna you can use for cutting weight, so it should work out fine. I don't expect to be more than a couple pounds over anyway.

Das real nice
I wonder if they'd let you do an unofficial whey in to see exactly how much you have to cut

I'm not sure. Both of my scales weigh heavy (it's usually .5-1 lb. over), so that would be nice. This is probably a riskier play than going there on weight, but I know it'll be a lot better for my performance.

Notes: I want to say this is the third or fourth time I've went for 590x4 and come up short since April. In the past month I've hit 8,7,6 and 5 rep PRs relatively easy. The goal from the work capacity and volume work was to hopefully transfer over to my high rep sets and it worked. Although I'm not sure if it's just an improvement in displaying strength through reps or an actual improvement in strength. My pull feels so much different lately that I'm not sure what my max is. I am going to transition and start peaking for a skills eval. I don't want to over think things yet
