Dude your squat is so fast. Looks great man. If I tried squatting that fast I don't think I would ever walk again lol. It's also cool that your gym let's you pick out the music they play.

Sorry I haven't posted any training lately been pretty busy so here's my training from today.
"Squat Explosion"
Squat @ 70%: 385lbs 5x2 (beltless)
These felt a little heavier than I anticipated so I didn't know how this next exercise would go. Was supposed to hit 405lbs w/ chains for 2 reps.
Squat: 405lbs w/ chains 5 reps(w/ belt and wrist wraps)
I was amazed at how light the weight felt on my back with the belt on. If I would have gone to failure on this set I probably could've hit 8 reps. If there's anything I thank for this it would be the program itself and making it a thing to train without a belt as much as possible. IMO I feel it does have its benefits for core strength, if done correctly of course.
Oly Squat: 315 4x5 reps (beltless)
365 5 reps (w/ sheik neoprene belt & wrist wraps) PR
Leg Press: 4x15
Ghetto Rev. Hypers: 3x15
DB Swings: 3x15
Jammer: 3x8

I'm probably sounding repetitive when I say this, but I am really impressed with how this program has improved my squat. If you're looking for a program The Cube would be a good one to try.

Quick update as to what I've been doing lately. Started taking creatine again about 2 weeks ago. Along with that I also tried a diet with more carbs. I just didn't respond well to the carbs felt bloated tired and everything just felt off. On top of that my body weight shot up to 220. So I'm back to low carb and my weight is back down to its normal 215 (still on creatine).
Decided to change up my programming a bit. I'm now benching three times a week with the cube. I'm already noticing improvements like today I benched 270lbs for 6 and 275lbs for 6 which is a PR. The program basically goes as follows:
Week 1: Heavy, Reps, Explosive
Week 2: Explosive, Heavy, Reps
Week 3: Reps, Explosive, Heavy
Still following the same reps and percentages. Day one of bench is chest assistance, day two is shoulder assistance, and day three is tricep assistance. I did this basically because my bench responds better to high volume.
Anyway thats basically it. I plan on setting new PR's for all of my lifts the week before I go back to school.

PostSubject: Re: Lorenzo's Training Log   Lorenzo's Training Log - Page 4 Icon_minitimeTue Aug 12, 2014 6:39 pm

Yesterday I hit a new PR on bench of 285lbs for 5 reps and went a little heavy and tried 305lbs. Thats about it for yesterday's bench training.
Squat work today I ended up doing the following:
495lbs 1 rep
505lbs 1 rep
525lbs 1 rep
565lbs w/ wraps failed attempt.
My thinking behind the set of 565 was to overload and get used to the heavy weight. I had no intention of actually getting the weight, if I got it I got it if I didn't oh well. During the 565 my walkout was complete shit and my stance ended up being too narrow, I feel like if my set up was right I could have gotten it. My main problem feels like right now is how heavy the walkout feels. This is what led to me having such a crappy set up with 565. I have the steps and the bracing down I'm just not used to the heavy weight. Even the squat itself feels good with my unwrapped sets. Anyway so everything else went as usual and I'll have a video up soon!

Lol why are you attempting weights you don't think you'll get? Why not just do walkouts or use contrast for a supramax

Like wearing a different wrap on each knee. Your muscles won't know what to do. Or wearing a really bright-colored shirt and black shorts.

Okay so early tonight I mentioned on the facebook page upcoming meets I might do. I actually do not plan on doing any meets in the near future. I have decided to take powerlifting down a notch, or a few for that matter.
Now this does not mean I am quitting, retiring, or whatever. In my spare time I will lift when I feel like it. I will not be running any structured program. My training will be determined on the amount of spare time on my hands. Don't worry I will still be actively participating in the club (going to meetings etc.).
The reason I have decided to do this is because this past school year my GPA was not where I wanted to be, because I let lifting take priority over my studies. I have tried balancing it, but it just never works out. To put it simply if I am going to be powerlifting I would rather go all out or not at all. I apologize if I have disappointed anyone with this post, but I have thought a lot about this and I feel I'm making the right choice.
To be honest I am more than satisfied where my lifts are at compared to a year ago and I have you guys to thank for that. I never would have imagined I would be putting up the numbers that I am now, which makes me feel okay to be taking a break.

SRS POST:
I can entirely understand where you're coming from. I've been fortunate enough to where my school life and powerlifting life were in perfect harmony. I'd be lying to you if I said I was ready for the semester. I have a job and presidential duties on top of everything now, but as we've been told in the Marines: adapt and overcome. The important thing is that you focus on what you need to focus on. I hope that maybe once you get into a good routine and feel comfortable, you'll be able to pick back up where you left off. You're so young and have a crazy amount of growing still left to do. I can't imagine the level you'll be at when you hit late 20's like some other people in the club. Know that we will be ready to welcome you with a scoop of preworkout and open arms whenever you want to go back at it.

Although my squat and bench in this video was shit basically, compared to my last meet (Intramural in February) my total has gone up by 135lbs (1435 total as compared to 1300).

My all time PR's go as follows: Squat: 545lbs (June) Bench: 335lbs (June/August) Deadlift: 600lbs (August) All TimeTotal: 1480.
