PostSubject: NASA DL bar   NASA DL bar Icon_minitimeSun Jul 06, 2014 3:39 am

I've used an Okie DL bar once and I think it has a lot more whip than the Texas DL bar at Magni. Monty is pretty sure NASA uses an okie DL bar. I'm thinking about doing the NASA Iowa Regional meet on Nov 1 and doing DL only. Does anyone have info on the bar? Confirm okie bar will be used at the meet? I should sent the meet director a message too but I thought I'd ask here. More generally if anyone has experience with different DL bars I'd appreciate some info.

I can confirm they use some sort of deadlift bar, but I don't know if it's an Okie. Okies are usually whippier, and the bar they had "acted" more like a Texas, but it's hard for me to say for sure. If you're used to pulling with the Magni bar, I don't even think you'll notice any difference.

It's a different bar. If you go back and watch our videos, the bar for bench has center knurling, whereas the bar for deadlifting has just a little roll of white tape down the middle. It's not a very whippy deadlift bar, but it's some sort of deadlift bar. My guess is that it's Texas because it doesn't really have a ton of flex.

Now, it's possible that they've used two different bars for deadlifting when running two platforms. Can't confirm though.

I remember the bar not being whippy, but it's been awhile.

Some flex, but not much whip at all. And I checked the videos and they indeed used the same bar for both platforms.
