| My name is Michael Witt. AKA Big Mike. I am a freshman here at Iowa. I've been lifting for about 5 years now, but have not competed up until now. Looking forward to improving my lifts and reaching new totals. Body weight 134.
First day logging my training
Bench 2 sets barbell work 2x8 reps 60 kilos (132lbs) 1x5 reps 85 kilos (187lbs) 1x4 reps 90 kilos (198lbs) 1x4 reps 92.5 kilos (203lbs) 1x4 reps 85 kilos (187lbs) 1x3 reps 85 kilos (187lbs)
Floor press 4x5 reps 80 kilos (176lbs), 90 kilos (198lbs), 90 kilos (198lbs), 90 kilos (198lbs)
Barbell Rows 4x8 reps 60 kilos (132lbs)

Warm-up sets 5x2 (209lbs), (215lbs), (220lbs), (220lbs), (220lbs)
Close Grip Bench 3x5 70 kilos (154lbs)
Floor Press 3x5 70 kilos (154lbs)
Overhead Press 4x8 40 kilos (88lbs)
Incline 4x8 60 kilos (132lbs)
Barbell Rows 3x5 60 kilos (132lbs), continued to work on hook grip
Upright Rows 5x8 40 kilos (88lbs)
I felt really good about tonights session. I was able to successfully press every set, on both incline and conventional bench, for pause sets. I will probably work on increasing my two rep bench in two weeks. It seemed as if I had a little more left in me after my second rep on all of the last 3 sets of bench. Working in floor press has continued to help me improve on locking out, especially since I haven't ever trained with pause sets until now. I decided to work in a little shoulder work for my accessories to help with my explosiveness and overall pressing power. There are definitely things to take away from my performance. All in all, I was pleased with this workout. | |

Low Bar Back Squat 4x4 255lbs
Really worked on my form with squats today. Thanks to Lauren, Jake, and Lorenzo's commentary, I am extremely happy about the adjustments I made. I am much more controlled in my movement. My last set went really well. Probably in the market for some knee sleeves and wrist wraps now that I am into powerlifting for good.
Conventional Deadlift 4x1 275 Wasn't really feeling deadlift today, but I threw in some conventional as opposed to how I normally pull. Felt good to de-load a bit and work on my lower back strength.
Glute/Ham Machine 3x6
Focused on squat specifically today, so I didn't get a whole lot done. I'm feeling good about my progression in my low bar, and definitely enjoy lifting at Magni. | |

I was cleared to do light sets of bench so I am happy about that. Starting a 3 week training cycle of straight bench.

Today felt good. I benched yesterday so I worked on quantity and quality throughout my reps. Didn't do a lot of different lifts because of my limitations, and soreness started to settle in from the bench only cycle. | |
