Sorry about the lack of updating - missed class and the gym Monday and Tuesday because I was sick. Did some light benching and squatting Wednesday kind of late after catching up at school. Had some 2L election dinner/business stuff going on tonight, but I will be at the gym tomorrow for team lifting, yay!

I forgot to log Friday - it was a weird day, but I benched.

Today - heavy deadlifting. Thanks to Grant, I hit a new 265lb pr. Then I also did some dumbbell rows, flyes, and reverse flyes.

I remember when you were shocked that you could pull 200. It's good to see you getting more confidence with a bar in your hands.

Today I basically tried to hit somewhere between my first attempts and what I hope my 2nd attempts will be at the meet.

I did hit a 180lb squat PR. Smile

135 lb x 5 reps
145 lb x 1 rep
155 lb x 1 rep

170 lb x 1 rep
175 lb x 1 rep
180 lb x 1 rep

Barbell Bench Press:
45 lb x 10 reps
55 lb x 5 reps
65 lb x 5 reps
75 lb x 5 reps
85 lb x 1 rep
90 lb x 1 rep
95 lb x 1 rep
100 lb x 1 rep

I did some really light stuff today for movement's sake:

Pyramid Squats: 45x5, 65x5, 95x5, 115x3, 95x5, 65x5, 45x5

Deadlifts: 95x5, 135x5, 95x5

Benching: light bar x 10, 45x8, 45x8

1mi. run

So, while I was benching, I was using an arch... which seems to work, but of course it needs improvement. When I was done, some dude came up to me and told me that I shouldn't be arching my back because it hurts your back... 1) that pissed me off, 2) thoughts?

Good luck finding a single study that makes this argument.

It's bro-science, and it's hilarious.

I can't imagine someone coming up to me in the gym and saying that shit. People are so rude.

I think I met the infamous Slapdick today. He was in the squat rack behind where I was benching, wearing an Underarmour tshirt. He was also basically screaming while doing quarter squats. It all matches the description Chris gave.

Anyways, I did some more pyramid stuff today. I'm going to read the 5-3-1 material Grant sent me and then do not-pyramid stuff at some point (probably after finals).

Squats:
45 lb x 10 reps
95 lb x 5 reps
135 lb x 3 reps
155 lb x 3 reps
160 lb x 3 reps
160 lb x 3 reps
135 lb x 3 reps
95 lb x 5 reps

Barbell Bench Press:
45 lb x 8 reps
45 lb x 8 reps
65 lb x 5 reps
85 lb x 3 reps
85 lb x 3 reps
85 lb x 3 reps
65 lb x 5 reps
45 lb x 8 reps

yesterday i saw him curling what appeared to be 75lbs about 36" from the mirror (I cannot be certain if it actually was 75lbs because he only had 2.5lb plates on the curl bar) and right at the top of the curl, he growls and then immediately proceeds to stare at me whilst giving me a look as if to telepathically say to me "Did you hear that? That was me mofos"

OMG yes. When I would sit on the bench and look around in the mirror after a set, I would look at him once in awhile when he started screaming from his squats. One time he caught me and he just STARED at me like "WHAT NOW?" and then basically threw the bar back on the rack.

Quick update.

Sunday: front squats and back squats.

Today: went surprisingly well after my 4 hour final! I had a good deadlifting session, and then I did some overhead pressing.

Funny story: I brought dumbbells to school and now not only am I the weird girl who powerlifts, I am the girl who does all sorts of weird exercises for study breaks. It is so fantastic haha.

Anyways, see you all at the gym tomorrow.
