| That's true there was a lot of change involved. I do believe in the old mantra "If it ain't broke don't fix it", but some people don't see the other side of it. If there's a way that will work better or more efficiently (as in your case) why not give it a try. | |

It was worth trying, as I wasn't making much progress with my old way of doing things. I think the fact that I have had two shitty meets in a row has made it easier to change aspects of my training and my lifting technique: now, I can afford to go back on a lift by a little bit (if I'm wrong on a change) and still PR at a meet, because the bar I've set for myself is so low.

| Also, I learned this guide from Pete Rubish:
Easy = good lift.
Hard = bad lift. | |

| got it
I call them cheap when they are less meaningful than a previous rm
like if I've done 615x3 and then hit 620x2, I'd call 620x2 a cheap pr

I think my best is 530x3, and I felt like I could have pulled a third rep with 565. When I'm in need of a break, I'll come in and pull another cheap PR there, too.

| From today:
Squats 95x8 135x5 185x5 225x5 275x5 320x10 320x10 320x10 320x10
Notes: Squatting in Oly shoes felt more comfortable this week, and the reps were overall easier and cleaner than last week. I'm staying more upright, which is great; the more volume I can get in without taxing my lower back, the better off I'll be. Plus, I figure squatting this way might just help build a weak link in the chain. Considering how I'm doing two heavy squat days now, it's worth a shot, as there's little risk in experimenting. Overall, this is probably my best squat session since coming back, even though the numbers aren't anything special.

| The Keo, not attempting 1RM's? Is this the real life, or is this Fanta Sea? | |

| I really do think it's going to happen this time though. If that's what I have to do to hit a PR total, then I will (finally) do it. | |

In all cerealness. Didn't you only max your DL last cycle? Your deadlift was obviously fine

| inb4 the keo goes for zero 1RM's, then bombs out, and proceeds to program nothing but 1RM attempts for his next training cycle | |

It ended up fine, but obviously the 1RM wasn't the reason why I pulled so well at the meet. I don't think my issue is CNS recovery. My CNS is pretty resilient. It's wasting a training day on a 1RM, or doing unnecessary reps and wasting energy.

lol--I will probably keep this approach at least until February. I doubt I'll tinker much with things after the November meet. I'm not sure if I've said this on here, but I have committed to RUM in February, which will be a fast turnaround (about three months in total) from the UPA meet, so I won't have time to mess around and experiment.
