| Do nothing but submaximal work for years (read: lift really low percentage weights to make yourself look cool). | |

| Also, I ordered some weightlifting shoes. Hopefully they run the same size as my Nike Frees, because that's what I got them in. I plan on using them 1-2 times a week. I don't plan on using them for competition, but I'm not ruling it out. | |

| 8/28-
Press- 135x15 a fuck ton x1@155, 165
Wide grip bench- a bunch x2@205 185x10
Notes: I fucking raped 135x15, which is good, because I only got 125x12 last week. I paused everything on bench, except for the set of ten--I just paused the first and last rep for that.

| I honestly don't know where it comes from. I didn't train the lift before I started 5/3/1, and it flew up immediately. My press was like 75% of my bench at one point. | |

| You can ask Poage how bad I am at any sort of behind-the-neck pressing.
In fact, I'm bad at push pressing, jerks, BTN pressing/jerking, Klokov presses, DB work, and essentially anything that isn't a regular press.

| 8/29-
Squat- 6x2@315 Deficit deadlift- 2x2@315, 2x2@365
Notes: Most of the squat sets were high bar, with a couple being low bar with a wide stance.

| That is not narrow though.. next thing you know, you will be wide grip benching and we ALL know that leads to sumo pulling | |

| Grant I think you have the wrong comparison going
Sumo deadlift is to deadlift as reverse bench is to bench

| 8/30-
Wide grip bench- 185x2 205x2 225x1 245x1 265x1 275x0
3x10@185
Notes: My weightlifting shoes came today. Looking forward to squats tomorrow.

| 8/31-
Deadlift- 240x5 285x3 335x1 360x14.5
Oly shoe squats- a bunch x5@225 275x2 315x1 350x1
Notes: Fuck my life. I needed 16 reps to match Monty's 395x12 (as far as using a calculation goes). The strength was there, but my grip failed. I felt it loosen on the 13th and 14th reps, and it just wasn't there for the 15th. Kinda wishing I had used straps, because it was fucking there.
Oly shoes feel good. They let my spine stay neutral throughout the entire ROM and feel natural. I am definitely weaker in them, though. The sets at 225 were with a variety of stances to experiment for a bit, and then I worked up to a moderate single.
Video may come. I'm off to Illinois, so I might not train until Tuesday.

| 9/3-
Bench- 4x8, 1x15@180
Curlz- a lot
Notes: My unrack/set up felt really off, and then I realized (after I was done, of course) that I had the hooks set lower than I normally did. Did curlz to help my elbow. Yes, I realize I did nothing but bench and curlz. I am now entering the 8's phase of TJM.

| Have you reset your training maxes for this phase? I just know you've mentioned it before. | |

| Yes. For TJM, you increase your training max a certain amount for each rep over the standard that you do for the AMRAP set on the last week of each phase.
So, the last three weeks have all been the 10's phase. Last week was the third week, so there is just one work set, an all-out AMRAP set. I got 15 reps on most everything, which puts me at 5 over the standard. I decided to increase my upper body lifts 2.5lb for each rep over the standard (rounded up), and 5lb per rep for my lower body lifts.
The manual doesn't really say what to do if you fail to meet the standard, but I would just lower my training max the same amount per rep.
