2/18-
End of Swolov base, test day
Bench, all paused 45x5 95x5 135x5 165x5 wrist wraps on 185x3 210x2 235x1 belt on 255x1 275x1
"Attempts" 295x1 315x1- 12lb PR over best meet lift, first 3 plate bench 325x0- missed about 60% up
Notes: Disappointed that I didn't get 325, especially because it was a pretty high miss and I know that I am capable of it--it just wasn't quite in the cards today. I thought about going for it again, but I quickly decided that taxing myself emotionally wasn't worth it.
315 was pretty fast, but the bar did drift back towards my face more than I would like; this was what caused me to miss 325.
Moving forward, this puts me in a really good spot for the intense mesocycle. I'm now at a new tier of strength, but in order to master it, I need to have a heavy bar in my hands and get the control I need over these bigger weights. The intense mesocycle is EXACTLY what I need to make 325 a lift I can consistently make.
The elbow was a bit achy during these lifts, but once I got to the heavier weights, my overall tightness disappeared and it didn't bother me. Backing down from the volume of the base mesocycle will help me get healthy.
I now have a two week active deload which I will use to focus on tricep and shoulder strength. My chest has gotten MUCH stronger over this mesocycle, and it's time to balance everything out a bit more. I will bench just once a week, and do more overhead work again. I will be 100% for the intense mesocycle.
Here's the video of 315 and 325.

nice job on 315
is it just the camera angle or is the bar really unbalanced?

A bit of both. I'm not super even but it is an off-center angle.

2/20-
Heavy unwrapped squat, accumulation week three
Squat- 4x4@350 1x15@185
Front squats- lul
Notes: Committing to a very low bar position (I normally squat low bar, I just went even lower) helped speed a bit, but holy fuck was I falling forward a lot. This was the case through all my sets but it was even worse with the lower position. I need to figure out what changes I need to make before I hit the intensification block. I have light unwrapped day coming up next so I will take the time to experiment there.
And because I'm going to Illinois on Saturday, I will probably have to deadlift tomorrow. I'm going to go ahead and eat a bunch of carbs tonight so I can recover a bit better. My legs will probably be feeling joocy tomorrow.

Deadlift, accumulation block week 3
Deficit deadlift- 5x3@425
Block pulls- 3x6@365
Notes: Fairly quick session, had to train early and leave pretty quick to go fill out paperwork for an apartment. Glad to have living quarters for next year, though.

I'm thinking about picking up some single ply gear to play around with after this next meet. I won't be competing until October/November after this one, so I'm planning on taking a month or two during the summer to play around with some other stuff, do some strongman, experiment with a few things, etc. I likely wouldn't compete in any of it (I am planning on competing unwrapped next Fall anyway), at least for a while, but it would be just for funsies. Thoughts?

I probably would find someplace else to train, at least for using the bench shirt. I could squat/pull no problem though.

I've always thought strongman training would be incredibly fun. Would you be doing it here in town?

I'll just emulate whatever I can while using the facilities here. My tentative plan for my offseason is to run a simple program like a 5/3/1 variation, and use strongman-style stuff as assistance. So, I'll do a lot of farmer's walks, heavy sled dragging, Zerchers and Zercher squats, and a ton of Fat Gripz work, among other stuff. The training will be heavily influenced by the likes of Dan John and Dinosaur Training.
And yes, I do plan on doing cardio during the offseason. Gotta make 165 at some point, and doing so would almost guarantee a spot at RUM.

If you don't mind, I'd be interested in joining you for a day of sled dragging. Do they have sleds at the old rec center on the west side of campus? I used to like lifting there a lot when I was in college.

Yes, they have sleds there. I also have my own sled that I will be bringing from home the next time I go back.

2/24-
Light unwrapped squat, week 4
Squat, no belt- 5x5@285
Shrugs- 3x5@365, 1x20@315
GHR- 3x8
Notes: Played around with my squat a bit today. I think widening my stance back out a bit, plus sitting back more is going to be helpful. The movement felt more natural. My squat is all kinds of jacked up lately and I really need to work on it.
However, my glute and back have felt a lot better recently. My glute was really bothering me on my last wrapped session, and I think that with it feeling better, I will have a better day and I will get a better view on how my wrapped squat is. I need to do everything I can to get to 500.

2/25-
Upper body active deload, W1
Press- 45x5 95x5 120x5 135x5 wraps on 155x5 170x3 185x2 200x1 215x1 belt on 225x0- fuckthis.jpg
Fat gripz press- 3x3@165, 1x10@135
Dips- BWx10 +25x10 +35x10 2x10@+45
HS low row machine- 4x10
Notes: First time doing overhead work in a month and I match my old PR, this time without a belt. 225 still isn't there, though. I'm going to do a ton of overhead work during my offseason. It will go nicely with the strongman stuff.

Wrapped squat, accumulation block week 4
Squat- 135x5 225x3 275x3 belt on 315x3 365x2 380x1 wraps on 415x3 415x3 415x4
Paused squats, three count in hole- 3x3@315
Face pulls- 3x20
Notes: I'm widening my stance back out a bit and sitting back a bit more. The movement is feeling back to natural and I think this is what I am built to do. Thanks to Kalvin Alvy for being my inspiration to squat wide again.
Video to come, I would like some honest feedback on these. Anybody who says "looks good" or the like will be negged.
