| Hey Y'all, I'm in the process of planning our first Powerlifting Potluck. The BasicsWho: You. What: Bring large quantities of food infused with protein. Eat large quantities of food infused with protein. When: TBA Where: TBA The Important notes
- It is important that everybody planning on attending RSVPs either here or on Facebook. I will create a Facebook event when I have a location reserved for us.
- It is also crucial that everybody writes what they plan on bringing to eat, because it will be a disappointing potluck if there are 15 bags of chips.
- Please Label your food container on the side if it contains any major allergens (Wheat, Soy, Milk, Tree Nuts, Ect). A good potluck doesn't end in anaphylactic shock.
Who's Bringing What Summary Last Updated 3/11 Supplies ---Coffman - Cups Plates Silverware Beverages Main Dishes ---Poage - Mysterious Meat Dish Sides ---Kevin - Fruit Deserts

| I can't volunteer us just yet (not before I talk to Janis), but we might be willing and able to host it here. | |

| Okay, So the Cultural centers are a go, but I'll have to get in the paperwork before spring break, we just have to pick one.
We can choose from -Afro-American Cultural Center -Asian Pacific American Cultural Center -Latino American Cultural Center -LGBT Resource Center
Let me know your top pick, and I'll start the reservation process thursday.

| I went on a tour of the centers, and talked to Preston Keith, a grad student more or less in charge of the centers, and narrowed it down to two options. We will be unable to get a center on Saturday, but we can get a center on Friday or Sunday. The two centers that are best laid out for our purposes and number are the LGBT Resource Center, and the Native-American Latino Center.
The Native-American Latino Center is a little bit bigger, but has about the same seating space, and the table is a little smaller. The LGBT center is a little more open-floor planned. Either center can easily host 8 people without any extra stuff, and I'm assuming we'll have 10-15 people who come. This means we will probably need an extra card table, if anybody has one. Although I am going to try to get student org services to provide one, or the centers might even have one lying around.
If the potluck is had on Friday the 28th, the hours at the center available to reserve are from 2pm-6pm. The Native-American Latino Center is the one that is available on this day. We could request a 6-8pm timeslot, however, this requires special approval because they have to find somebody employed by the center to work at it while we are there, and we could be denied the timeslot.
If the potluck is had on Sunday, it will be on the same day as our next meeting. The LGBT resource center is the one available. I think this is my preferred option. We could have our team practice on Sunday, and after practice go to the LGBT resource center (it is less than a block from the fieldhouse). We could have a brief meeting or a few announcements, and then pig out or vice versa, and then I would plan on reserving the center from 6:30-9pm, although the center is open until 10pm that night.
I would like other input on the idea because this involves a day/time switch. I currently favor the Sunday option. The number of hoops to jump through are smaller, the center is a little more open designed, and it makes the weekend a little less over packed with events. I would like to get the reservation form completed tomorrow, but I absolutely need to have it completed and turned on Friday.
TL:DR - The potluck needs to be moved to either Friday or Sunday. Take your pick.

| I will talk to my bosses at work tomorrow and see if we can get one of the million rooms at the CRWC. It looks like that will be a lot less hassle. | |

The larger space and saturday event would be nice. If not, The cultural center is basically ours already as long as I get the form to Preston on Friday.

Why deal with the university providing a table? We can just bring one.

We could request a 6-8pm timeslot, however, this requires special approval because they have to find somebody employed by the center to work at it while we are there, and we could be denied the timeslot.
So, in other words, this place is out because why the hell would we want some random guy there while we eat? 2pm-6pm obviously does not work.

How is this supposed to work? This requires us to essentially not have a training session or a meeting. What are people supposed to do, bring their food to the training session? Try to shower and cook something in the half hour between the session and 6:30?
I would like other input on the idea because this involves a day/time switch. I currently favor the Sunday option. The number of hoops to jump through are smaller, the center is a little more open designed, and it makes the weekend a little less over packed with events. I would like to get the reservation form completed tomorrow, but I absolutely need to have it completed and turned on Friday.
How does putting this on Sunday, where we have both a meeting and training session, make the weekend less packed with events? The hoops to jump through are ridiculous no matter which option, and we should avoid dealing with the unversity's crap at all costs.
TL:DR - The potluck needs to be moved to either Friday or Sunday. Take your pick.
Neither, because both options have dealbreakers in them. We do not have to have this planned out like super fucking right now--the entire point of this is to make it informal and fun for people to come to, and jumping through University bullshit just to get some room isn't fun for anybody. The potluck does not NEED to be moved anywhere--we could do it literally whenever works for the most people. We might want to actually find a time that works for people before we start filling out forms. .

| Maybe put up a poll on the FB page or make a voting thread and get a concrete idea of what works. | |
