I had one back in my cross country days (we don't talk about those days...) without doing ANY sort of workout, so I imagine I'm more genetically predisposed to get one if I actually gave a shit about eating clean

You did cross country? Does this mean you're, like, gay with Poage? Nohomo, of course.

Yeah but only for a year and a half in high school, I only ran 3 miles. Not like Mr. Marathon over there

9/5/14
Deadlift: 1x5 @ 190 1x5 @ 250 1x7 @ 330
Comments: First training session and had a lot of new people show up which was really cool. I didn't plan on getting too crazy of a workout because I wanted to help out some of the new peeps. I absolutely hate AMRAP deadlifts though. I like to stick to doubles or triples so this is all new to me. I was breathing hard as fuarkkk after my AMRAP, which really sucks because it got to the point where it wasn't a strength issue, it was an endurance issue. I was just out of breath and couldn't do any more. Oh well, we'll see how these high volume sets work out.

Just give it a few years until you swing back to the other side of the pendulum and do naught but singles.

This is exactly how I feel about the AMRAP deadlifts I'm trying now too. I feel so wiped out at the end, and then I see the video and it looks wayyy smoother than I thought it was.

Yeah I'm not a fan. I have a feeling my AMRAPs for deadlifts are gonna be on the conservative side during 5/3/1

Deadlift Accessory work from yesterday
Leg curls: 1x14 @ 100 3x14 @ 110
Leg Extension: 4x15 @ 160
Overhead Press: 1x5 @ 75 1x5 @ 85 1x10 @ 95
Lat Pulldowns: 3x10 @ 160
dumbbell ohp: 3x15 w/ 35's
Comments: I'm going to dislike the OHP days just because my OHP is absolutely abysmal. I guess this is how you make progress though, so oh wells. Hoping there'll be some good carry over to bench. In hindsight I probably should've done more accessory work.

Comments: Good sesh today. Hit 5 reps at 300 which all went up relatively smooth minus the last one, I actually came to a complete stop, but finished it. Got some nice accessory work in. Gonna be interesting how 330 goes for me next week. I'm shooting for 3. I know can do a double just fine.

Bench: 1x3 @ 260 1x3 @ 280 1x6 @ 205
Bodyweight dips: 3x14
Band Pulldowns: 3x18 w/ orange+red mini band
Comments: Shitty day. Don't think I'm gonna work out wednesdays, I have a 12 hour non-stop day before I get to the gym at 8 o'clock and I have no energy. Plus there was all this bullshit about the oly room keys going missing at the field house, I remember giving them to the oly club after they took over for us Monday at 6, and they weren't there today. Anyways, just brushing today off. Still gotta get in a groove for this semesters scheduling.

Wow the keys weren't even there anyway?
There are a few new regular members who are also CPR certified so there shouldn't be any issues opening up the room. I guess that's the good news.
Also, I definitely remember you giving them the keys on Monday. Hope we don't get stuck with any blame....

Dealift: 1x3 @ 275 1x3 @ 315 1x4 @ 350
Leg Extension: 3x14 @ 170
Leg Curl: 3x14 @ 130
GHR: 4x12 @ bodyweight
(Finished up some accessory stuff from yesterday I didn't get to) Dumbbell Flies: 4x12 w/ 35's
Close Grip Lat Pulldowns: 2x12 @ 130 2x12 @ 120
Comments: Had an absolute SHIT deadlift day. I made up for it in the accessory work though. I seem to be progressing pretty nicely in that at least. I hate making excuses, but I picked up a 370 deadlift cold yesterday, no warmup, nothing, and I'm pretty sure that fucked my training up for today knowing how touchy my deadlifts are.

Skwat: 1x5 @ 250 1x3 @ 285 1x4 @ 315
Comments: I've been feeling like shit lately (calm down, I don't mean my feels). I never have energy and I've been losing weight. I'm down to 193 now when I was walking around at 200-204 about 3 weeks ago. This semester is definitely asking a lot of me. I enjoy helping out the new members, don't get me wrong, but I'm certainly not getting the training I need. I may just show up to training sessions to help out, and do my own training whenever I can fit it (this being at 10pm tuesday, 8pm thursday, and maybe 630pm fridays, with odd times in the weekend if I can). It's the 4th week of the semester and I have yet to get in a groove. I'm striving for maintenance at this point. Debating ditching general programming and just trying to maintain my squat and deadlift while I really focus on improving bench. Don't know. I can only imagine it's going to get worse once all my tests start coming around. /end rant

also, the oly room key situation was figured out, it was some crossfit instructor. Fortunately neither our club, nor the oly club were at fault. I thought the hammer was gonna come down on us for that.

Bench: 5x5 @ 200 1x21 @ 135 <---- AMRAP
Barbell shrugs: 2x13 @ 225 1x22 @ 225
Triceps pulldowns: 3x14 @ 70
Bicep curl machine: 3x12 @ 70
Comments: Finally had a decent day. Stuck to something simple so I just went for a 5x5. Still had some anger pent up so decided to go balls to the wall for no reason and repped out 135. Magni was packed tonight. wish I didn't have a night class Tuesdays; I need more of that environment.

Hi there, quick question: do we have rules on who is allowed to buy the IPL sweatshirts (like, only members? only powerlifters? etc.) If not, I want to buy two, one to send to someone back home in AZ. Thanks!

Deadlift: Couldn't do it. Tried 365 twice and my lower back wasn't having it.
Sumo deadlift work: 6x4 @ 225
GHR: 4x11 @ bodyweight
Stiff leg deadlifts: 3x10 @ 225
Wide Grip Rows: 3x10 @ 135
Comments: I'm gonna take a couple weeks to deload and work volume on my squat and deadlift. School's been stressing me out and I'm not getting enough energy OR recovering properly. My bench has been consistent at least. Improvement has slowed, but I'm confident that I can go in and hit 240-245 any day of the week.
Gave sumo another shot today and it actually went SUPER well. I used to get pains shooting down my hamstrings, but I really stretched out before hand I felt absolutely no problem. My toes have a tendency of wanting to point forward, as opposed to pointing outward, but I'm working on that. Also made progress on how wide I felt placing my feet. I didn't want to go heavy at all so I stayed at 225. Any input is appreciated. I know not a lot of people in the club don't prefer sumo, so I really haven't been able to soak up a lot of knowledge on that. I watched some of Kyles vids from earlier in the year and watched how he progressed and got more comfortable with it. I took note of as many things as I could, but I'm sure there's still cues and methods I'm missing.
Pardon the bulge

OHP: 5x5 @ 105
Bench: 1x2 @ 200 3x10 @ 155
Band Pulldowns: 3x15 w/ purple bands
Comments: My OHP went really well today actually. Decided to bench today and didn't take into fact that the rings were in different places on this bar than the power bars at Magni and fucked myself. Decided to just work some volume instead.
